Programming a 4-Group IR Remote

Once you have installed your Serena IR Shade you’ll need to program your IR remote so that it works with the shade. If you have a 4-group IR remote, you’ll need to put the shade into programming mode. First, assign the remote to the shade. To put the shade into programming mode, tap the shade button on the shade you want assigned. The shade button will turn on to solid green, indicating the shade is in programming mode. Next, hold the group button on the remote for the shade you want to assign to that number on the remote. You’ll need to hold the button for about 5 seconds, until the button on the shade blinks then turns off.

Repeat these steps (tapping the button on the shade and holding the group button on the remote) for each group. You can assign as many shades as you want to each group. Now you can set the lower and upper limits for the shade. These limits are stopping points for the shade, which were pre-programmed based on your window dimensions. However, you’ll probably want to fine-tune them. Note: Please leave the shade down for 24 hours to allow the fabric to relax before adjusting the limits.

To set the shade’s lower limit, tap the shade button on the shade you want to set the limit on. The shade button will turn on to solid green. Then tap the group button for the shades you want to select. Hold the "open" and "raise" buttons on the remote for about 5 seconds, until the shade button blinks and remains lit. Then use the remote’s "raise" and "lower" buttons to adjust the shade position to the lower limit you prefer. Hold the "close" button for about 5 seconds, until the shade button blinks and turns off. You’ve now set the shade’s lower limit.

To set the shade’s upper limit, tap the shade button on the shade you want to set the limit on. The shade button will turn on to solid green. Then tap the group button for the shades you want to select. Hold the "open" and "raise" buttons on the remote for about 5 seconds, until the shade button blinks and remains lit. Then use the remote’s "raise" and "lower" buttons to adjust the shade position to the upper limit you prefer. Hold the "open" button for about 5 seconds, until the shade button blinks and turns off. You’ve now set the shade’s upper limit.

You might also want to set a favorite shade level, or preset, for one shade assigned to the remote, or multiple shades assigned to the remote at the same level. To set a favorite level, tap the group button for the shades you want to select. Use the remote’s "raise" and "lower" buttons to adjust the shade position to the level you prefer. Then hold the "favorite" button for about 5 seconds. The shade button will blink, indicating you’ve set a favorite level.
