Power Options

Choose from battery powered shades, shades powered by a plug-in, low-voltage adapter, or manual (non-motorized) cordless shades. Click "?" for more help.

		Battery Powered ? Battery powered Serena shades require standard D batteries (not included). Serena shades feature Triathlon™ power technology, which provides a 3-year battery life. Choose either Infrared (IR) or Radio Frequency (RF) controls. * The dimensions you've selected does not allow battery power.
		Plug-in Adapter ? We can configure Serena shades to use a low-voltage adapter that you can plug into a standard outlet. Your shade will include a 15 foot long adapter cord. The adapter works with either Infrared (IR) or Radio Frequency (RF) controls.
		Manual (non-motorized) ? Serena manual shades are available in all the colors of our motorized shades. Manual shades are cordless, and come with a clear acrylic pull tab that is mounted in the middle of the shade for easy adjustment. On larger shades, the shade might have a pull tab mounted near each end of the shade.

Mounting Options

You can mount your shades either inside the window frame, on the frame, or on the wall above the frame. Learn more

		Inside Mount (Inside the windowframe) *We deduct 1/8" (3mm) per side to allow room for proper operation.* ? An inside mounted shade fits inside the window frame. If you're considering this option, make sure the shade can move freely from top to bottom without being obstructed by the inner window frames. The minimum inside mount depth must be 1.5". Consider mounting your shade on the outside of the window frame so the shade won't interfere with window cranks, sash lift lips, or locks. *IMPORTANT: We will deduct 1/8" (3mm) per side on inside mounted shades to allow room for proper operation. Be sure and provide the full inner width measurement in the field below.*
		Outside Mount (on the window frame extending to the edge of the molding) ? An outside mounted shade mounts on the frame, completely covering it from edge to edge. If you're considering this option, make sure the shade can move freely from top to bottom without being obstructed by curtain pull-backs or other decorative features.
		Outside mount (above the window frame using the provided spacers, so the shade clears the window frame) ? You may want to mount your shade on the wall, above the trim, extending down to the window sill and covering the complete window frame. The vertical measurement should take into account the distance between the window sill and the point on the wall you wish to mount the shade. Note: this type of mounting requires spacer inserts to insure that the shade clears the window frame.

Control Type

Select Infrared or Radio Frequency

		Infrared (IR) ? IR remotes operate by sending a signal from the remote control to the shade via "line-of-sight," meaning you have to point the remote control at the specific shade you wish to control in order for the shade to receive the signal. IR remotes are less expensive than RF and are excellent for a TV room or home theater because Serena IR shades are compatible with many universal remote controls. We don't recommend IR shades for a window with drapery, a valance, or a cornice because these window treatments will obstruct the line-of-sight signal. Note: Once a shade is configured for IR we can't change it.
		Radio Frequency (RF) ? RF remotes provide a reliable radio wave signal, so you can use an RF remote from anywhere in the room. You can mount our RF remote on a wall, on a tabletop pedestal, or simply leave it free standing. An RF remote can control one or more shades in the room. These remotes are ideal for a window with drapery, a valance, or a cornice because the remote's signal doesn't require line-of-sight. Note: Once a shade is configured for RF we can't change it.
